National Storytelling Championship

Eligibility

SG-NSC 2025 is open to all residents (students / adults / storytellers) age groups 3 to 18 and an open category for ages 19 & above.
Interested participants should register at www.sgnationalstorytellingchampionship.com
Registration is Free for the championship.
This is an individual championship. Team/Group videos will not be considered and will be disqualified.
Participants must register according to their age category else will be disqualified from the championship.
In order to upload the video, the registration form must be complete in all aspects. Upon successful registration, participants will receive a confirmation email.
Employees and immediate families of ACEnovation, WSTC & the Blu Hornbill Club are prohibited from participating in this championship. If found participating without any approval will be disqualified immediately.

Competition Structure

Storytelling championship consists of knockout rounds
Top 10 in each category will proceed to the Finals
Grand Finale will be conducted live

Competition Themes

Participants will tell a story centered on Singapore under the following themes:

People: The stories can be about the leaders / changemakers / soul warriors / civil servants / citizens/ children / sports persons etc.
Places: Every place in Singapore has a story. Tell those stories. China Town, Little India, Heritage buildings, Marina Bay, Beach etc.
Culture: Singapore is melting pot of Cultures... And there are stories galore from all the different segments each unique but living together in harmony.
Cuisines: Oh, so many! Soul-Satisfying! Head-Sinning! Eye-Popping! Mouth-Watering! Breathe-Taking! Finger-Licking! Stomach-Filling! Tell those stories.

Submission Rules

Video Requirements:

Format: MP4 only
Length: Max 90 seconds (including 5-second intro)
Language: English or any another language with English subtitles
File Name: Name_AgeCategory_Country (e.g., Annie_14yrs_13-15_SG)

Content:

Must be original or if adapted stories cite sources
No copyrighted material (music/images/clips) without written permission
Prohibited: Sensitive topics (politics, religion, race), illegal behavior, or privacy violations

Introduction Screen:

All entries should begin with a 5-second full-screen introduction video that includes:

Presenter/Storyteller's Name
School name (if applicable)
School city, state/country
Title of the Story
Total Duration (including the 5-second introduction screen)

Workshops

Participants will be given two free workshops on storytelling to learn the nuances of storytelling.
After workshops, participants can select any 90-second story based on any one of the themes.
Participants should practice and prepare their props, voice modulation, gestures, songs, music, costume, etc.

Judging Criteria

The championship will be judged by an international panel of judges who are professional story tellers.
The judge's decision will be final and binding and no challenge or contest of any kind against the results will be entertained.
Participants must agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions of the judges.

Content Rules:

Stories presented can be authentic, adapted or originally written.
Video should be original, creative, and unique with smooth transitions and edits.
All information presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the original source.
No copyrighted materials (music, images, video clips, etc.) should be used unless you own the copyright or have a license.
Content must not touch upon sensitive issues such as race, religion, stereotyping, politics nor invade privacy.
Must not promote illegal behavior, advocate sexual or violent exploitation, or violate rights established by any law or agreement.

Certificates: All participants receive downloadable Certificates of Participation.

Payment & Refund Policy

All payments related to Registrations are processed by third-party payment processors.
We do not store your credit card details in our systems.
There is no refund or return once you register.
In case of multiple payment by mistake, excess payment shall be considered by the organizing committee against request by email to admin@acenovation.com with proof of both payments.

Privacy Policy

We collect personal information only to verify your identification.
Participants grant ACEnovation the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.
All winners' names, likeness, and voice may be used by ACEnovation, its partners, and marketing channels for publicity purposes.
We use your personal data solely to enable participation in SG-NSC 2025 and WSTC, provide services, maintain the website, conduct research, and reply to enquiries.
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee 100% security.
This Privacy Policy is subject to amendment from time to time.

All winners will be notified via email and are given 30 days to contact the SG-NSC 2025 organizing committee via email (admin@acenovation.com) for instructions regarding collection of awards and prizes.
We encourage you to check the website regularly for announcements and updates.

Final Notes

Championship will be conducted within the boundary of local, state, and federal laws of Singapore.
All participants will be given the 'Certificate of Participation' which will be made downloadable once ready.
Prizes will be shipped anywhere in the world if shipping costs don't exceed the total value of the prize.
ACEnovation reserves the right to substitute any prize not grantable for another prize of equal value.
ACEnovation has the right to change rules for specific contests at any point in time, without written or verbal notice.
By accepting a prize, winner releases ACEnovation and its promotional partners from any liability resulting from injury during use of said prize.
Winners of prizes (cash or in kind) are subject to taxes in respective country laws. All prizes are nontransferable unless otherwise specified.
